Just how many songs are there in this world? Billions, but some have the best of the best status. For instance, Linkin Park's "Minutes to Midnight" crashes in at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 in a big way, its 623,000 copies the highest first-week total of 2007, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It's the biggest debut week number since Jay-Z's "Kingdome Come" moved 680,000 last December; only five other titles have moved more than 600,000 in a week in the past two years. This year top single so far has been “Umbrella” by Rihanna featuring Jay-Z . This only after releasing her latest album, “Good Girl Gone Bad”.

How do I actually feel about actors and actresses in Singapore?
In the previous post, I actually like a few actors that I like, I’ve seen those comment that the others actually give to the Actors and Actresses , I find that, they’re actually very rude towards the actors and actresses, this is because, they actually criticized the actors when they don’t even know that, how they feel when they act, and they say that they sucks and even that they’re lousy. I think that they have no right to even say that to them, if they’re that good, they should be the one acting for us to see. Fiona xie and Elvin Ng are the newcomers who attract me! Why are Singaporean actors and actress not famous to me? Or are they? Comments?
Some are actually quite attractive that they caught my eye, I’m quite a fussy person, I’ll see if the person has the quality to be one actor / actress. If he or she doesn’t fit to be one, I’ll off the television or change channel. Although they’re new, but you also have to give them some time to learn. It all starts from small. Fame is nothing much to say, is matter of how the actor or the actress attracts the audience. Commenting about the actors and actresses? I’ve no say , cause I do not know how to act , I just think that, we shouldn’t criticize them as they already put their best into the show already.
Shows and Event that Mediacorps actually holds, what’s my view?
They show Star Award is a very good event, why do I think so? They have all sorts of prizes given out that night, why is that so? I think is to congratulate those who showed great improvement of the shows that they acted. It is also a goal for those who didn’t win the prizes to get determined and try to work hard and be the next best actor or actress.
The charities show that they performed , actually are nice, the actors and actresses tried their very best to even make the show a good one, but still. After so many years that I’ve seen the charity show, I find that is kind of boring , and government are like scamming our money, they can actually help the poor themselves, they already increase the GST until 7% , yet they’re always showing that kind of shows to get our sympathy and get us to donate money , it seems scamming to me.

There are many celebrities world wide. Both male and female. Just like any
other country, Singapore has its share in fame for the artists as well. For example --- Zoe Tay , Li Nan Xing , Zhou Chu Ming , Christopher Lee and Fann Wong, Of which all are the past “ah Ge “ “ ah jie “ , who we definitely will remember when the new ones come up! Who are those actors and actresses coming up? Jeanette Ow, Fiona Xie , Alan Wu , Qi Yu Wu , Elvin Ng, Celest Chong ,Brian Wong , Felicia Chin , are some examples we see on most television series.
Is being famous that important to local actors/actresses?
I have researched about how the people of Singapore are not as famous world-wide as those in Hollywood. And the most recent case was about Christopher Lee, with him getting jailed for drunk driving.
Medias all over have interviewed him and found out that he was he was feeling much better after realizing his own mistake and accepting the punishment given to him. He might not have said that but we can tell as he still accepted the jail sentence despite the tantrums he threw. Let us look at some comments given by our own Singaporeans...
The reason why some local actors/actresses are not as popular and famous as those in Hollywood.
unique_elvin: Hong Kong and Taiwan stars are so much more famous and popular compared to Singapore stars. They should try to work as well as them. Example: Fann Wong, she made it into Hollywood! WOW!
Kero: Is not that they would not like to be popular or famous; however they are also waiting for the opportunity. They need a director to get them to be in a show that everyone around everywhere watches. Whilst people from around the world would watch them and be the judge.

Gerry Koh: All of them suck! Even the newbies like Felicia Chin, Elvin, Dawn Yeo, Joanne Peh are not up to standard. It must be Mediacorp not paying them well.I would rather see Korean shows with their celebrities being good looking, having good complexions and a great fashion sense.

Some artists may catch our eyes, however, people still dislike them, Sharon Au went to Japan and studied there but since then no one has felt a sense of missing her. Mark Lee, he has been an actor for quite a long period, perhaps even before I myself was born, but he still has failed to win the locals’ heart.
Singapore has aired many Charity events on television , and now most artists will try their very best to produce a good yet meaningful programme, whilst letting the audience to watch and to also donate money at the same time, and all they want is to help the less fortunate. For example we have the President's Star Charity 2006 and Ren Chi Qi Ai Zhao Wan Qian.
The Cancer Charity Show 2005, charities like Affairs of the Heart, where local artists start performing unique and difficult performances while at the same time, allowing the audience to donate money. Artists from other countries were also invited.
Mediacorp hold events like these annually, such then, all these artists that have done their best will get their rewards. If they perform well, they would then be given the chance to star in these events. There are those artists who start out with small roles, such as Fiona Xie , she started her show with, ‘My Genie’. The number she was being called each time appeared: 0385985, and how is she now? The top model, the famous actress that most of us know, has since acted in much more shows than she used to. Thinking back, she was only nineteen when she acted in ‘My Genie’. She acted in the show ‘The Champion’ too.
Let us now look as how well she has faired the past few years.

I have interviewed my secondary two friend recently. She used to model when she was young. Here are some topics we talked about:
-What she did when she was a model
-What were the advantages she had when she was a model
-What were the problems she faced when she was a model
What She Did When She Was A Model.
She advertised for a certain brand of clothing. She was able do choose what pose she wanted to do but the photographer would give her advice on how to make her poses look better and her expressions more real.
Advantages
She got to do what she actually enjoyed doing and earned money at the same time. Her photoshots would also be displayed and people would recognize her.
Disadvantages
When school started, she could not cope well with her studies. Her results dropped alot. So she stopped modeling. "I've heard of companies which abuse th bodies of models or ask them to take nude shots," my friend added.
Thankfully, my friend's company did not abuse her boby or asked her to take nude shots. She wishes to go back to that company when she is ready to.

Thinking of being a fashion model?
The typical fashion model travels to exotic places, models the latest clothes, fashions, and accessories from top designers, and can even be featured in various magazines, which of course can also then lead to being pursued by manufacturers for you to do product endorsements.
But that is typically not where a fashion model starts. Like anything else, a fashion model or teen model usually starts significantly lower on the totem pole while they are gaining visibility with potential clients and top modeling agencies around the world. But if you are willing to “pay your dues”, the rewards can be fabulous from many perspectives, including travel, mingling with celebrities, attending exclusive events, and of course from a financial perspective. Top models can earn upwards of thousands of dollars per day.
Fashion modeling is no longer limited to just the “perfect” people anymore with the great looks, superb hair, and a Barbie-doll figure. Particularly in recent years, the fashion designers have started to realize that by only targeting the “perfect” people, they were ignoring a large portion, indeed a majority, of the audiences they could potentially target to sell their merchandise, accessories, and fashions.That being the case, there is also a market for fashion models that almost spans the entire range of types of people; i.e., the petite, the “plus size”, the teen, the “mature”, and yes even the retiree crowd. Think about it, all those types of people have money also, and are willing to spend it if they are aware of the possibilities and availability of their products. And selling their creations and fashions is what they are in business for! To become a successful fashion model today, you no longer need to be limited to the group that is about 5 foot 8 inches tall at 120 pounds with perfect bouncy hair and about 22 years old.
There are many types of modeling jobs available, and virtually any of them would be a good start for someone with the motivation and desire to get into some of the top spots and top agencies. There is catalog modeling, runway modeling, showroom modeling, promotional or trade show modeling, television modeling, as well as print modeling like in newspapers or magazines.
It is a tough market and there will likely be some long hours involved. But for those with the motivation and desire to succeed in this very competitive industry, the rewards can far outweigh the negatives.
